I went on a 4-day vacation in the mountains with an adventurous bunch of people. It was an amazing experience for me. I had gone there just after running my half marathon. So when I came back the day before yesterday, my toe nails were all blue. I had a good diet and took a good rest for two days to feel strong enough to start again with my workout today.
The best part about travelling in the nature is that it gives you an opportunity to disconnect with your daily routine. The connection with nature made me feel peaceful at heart. Nature’s vastness made me ask questions of myself. This time I came back with two answers to my questions.
Results are in the efforts. So talk less and do more.
Do what you believe. Do not do what the world is doing or what the world believes you should do. Be yourself! Have faith in being yourself. No comparison with others.
Well then, let me get to the topic of this post. While travelling, I found people eating chips, biscuits, pakoras, namkeens, etc. When you are travelling on the mountains, you need to hoard eatables, no doubt, but salty or baked things always cause nausea. To ease the discomfort, people eat some more churans and cold drinks which further leads to heaviness in the stomach due to gas formation. This way the whole trip goes pukish and we come to a conclusion that we get nauseated because we are not good at travelling in the mountains. The irony!
Most of the times, it is the type of food that we eat that makes us nauseated. This can easily be checked.
I am sharing what I prefer to eat while travelling.
Fruits: Fruits are easily digested so they are not much of a pain while travelling whereas junk foods are not easy to digest.
Dry fruits: Apricots, walnuts, almonds, pistachios, dried berries, dries peaches, dried pomegranate seeds, aam papad are some good snack options. Instead of having a cup of tea or coffee after every hour, it is good to have some dry fruits for warmth.
Dried berries (humble ber in Hindi), aam papad, dried pear
Since we rely on restaurants for meals while travelling, keeping the mid meals natural is a good option. Fruits, chulai and nuts are the best.
Prefer having wheat chapatis, little amount of rice, dal, rajma and curd
Always carry plenty of ground nuts (the natural winter proteins).
Clean eating is the trick on this planet. Be back from the vacations guilt-free and illness-free!
